The 90+ member schools in the Connecticut Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) serve around 30,000 students and their families. CAIS schools are diverse and include:
- Day and Boarding schools
- Montessori and Waldorf programs
- Small primary schools with programs beginning in early childhood and schools extending to grade 12 and PG
- Schools with an enrollment of 50 and those with more than 1,000 students
- Schools with unique learners
- Single gender schools, and
- Religious schools
